Glacier Lagoon Elopement | Iceland Wedding Photography

S+G’s Glacier Lagoon elopement was AMAZING. Like, literally could not have been more perfect!! We visited the popular Glacier Lagoon, plus a secret less busy lagoon, and ended at a gorgeous canyon with a breathtaking waterfall where S+G exchanged vows.

Getting Ready + The First Look

We started the day at a cabin rental in Hrifunes Nature Park. I can’t recommend this rental property enough! It had stunning views of the hills and also a nearby glacier. All of the cabins throughout the park had plenty of room between them, still giving us plenty of privacy. Plus, we were only 20-30 minutes away from food and grocery to stock the cabin up with.

S+G finished writing their vows together then got dressed separately so that we could do a first look in front of the cabin. G was so emotional when he saw S – the whole moment was so sweet and I loved re-living it while editing their photos.

Driving from the cabin to Glacier Lagoon was a scenic 2 hour drive. On the way we passed gorgeous fields and views of the glacier that feeds the Glacier Lagoon. Everywhere you drive in Iceland is scenic so the 2 hours passed by so quickly! This is also a good reminder of why it’s important to make sure you schedule tons of time into your day for your elopement, to account for travel time. The great news is that once we arrived at the lagoon we were within 15 minutes of all the sights we wanted to see!

Glacier Lagoon is a really popular tourist spot so it’s a perfect place to hang out and take some portraits. I don’t recommend this spot for exchanging vows though, unless you want a busload of tourists taking photos of you, haha! Since we knew we had a private spot picked out for vows already, we didn’t need to stress too much!

Hiking To The Ceremony Spot

Our ceremony location was a short drive and about a 30 minute hike into a canyon. We started late in the day so by the time we got to the canyon the skies were turning cotton candy pink, giving the absolute best lighting for S+G’s vows. In this canyon is a stunning waterfall that we obviously had to take pictures with! Then when S+G were ready I set them up for their vows. Isn’t G SO precious with how emotional he was over their vows??

We stayed out until the sun was done setting over the canyon, then strapped our headlamps on and hiked back out of the canyon to our cars. I actually ended up rolling my ankle during our hike out but fortunately there was a cold beer can at the cabin that I was able to “ice” it with! Back at the cabin we spent the rest of the night chowing down on local pub food and just being amazed at how fast our day went by. It always goes by in the blink of an eye, especially with such amazing people like S+G who really are more like friends than just clients <3.

WELCOME

My name is Jessica and I am the dreamer behind Jessica Lauren Photography! When I’m not behind the camera I love spending time with my dog hiking, out on my paddle board, or getting some quality time with my husband while we explore local events. I love spending time on the coast no matter which side of the U.S. I’m on and I’m always chasing that perfect sunset.
